The community centre, which has determined the visitors' approach, spirit, attachment to the house, and to the town for long decades, was built under the "Lövérek" in 1952 according to the requirements of the period and to Dr. Oszkár Winkler's plans. The olds and the people, who live far away from the city call the centre "SOTEX Community Centre" also today. After one and a half decades it serves again the community's culture; the useful, reasonable spare-time-spending; the community of every generation, which affects the personality, too. In our giddy-paced world it is worth to turn into this little island, it is good to take a rest, to relax, to give and to get joy.



In 1997 Sopron decided, that they will buy this building, make it renewed, and after that operate it chiefly as a community centre. The conception fulfilled within 135 work-days according to specialists, the "Mestervonal Tervező Private Limited Liability Company" in Sopron, and the "Baukom Joint-Stock Company" in Csorna before the deadline, and within the planned amount of money. It was in December 1998 opened, also since then an old-new centre is waiting for the young with balls, dance-schools, and many other programs.



The building is by the "Children and Youth Centre Non-profit Company" operated, it was completely renewed, and it ensures pleasant surroundings with its saloon, which is with boxes and balcony enlarged, with its hall of mirrors, clubrooms, coffee-bar. In the summer it operates a large terrace for 120 people and a playground, too. The comfortable fittings: ramps - built for the handicapped -, toilet, and elevators following the barriers enhance the visitor's comfort.



The major task of the house is the organization of the free-time activity of the youth, and children. Since the opening one quarter of the almost 1500 programs were international events for mixed age-groups. The smaller-bigger events appealed to hundred thousands in the house.



Everyone can find the program according to one's desire and interest: dance-schools, balls; it is the main scene of school-programs in the city; but it gives home for concerts, conferences, exhibitions, performances, too. The main profile of the almost 70 in the house active little communities, courses, clubs is related to sports or other kinds of arts. The spare-time-centre gives home for many civilian organizations, foundations, associations. The Folk-dance Ensemble "László Lajtha" and the "Urban Majorette Team" rehearse beside our orchestra here.
